I don't always get blooms (not sure why) and this one sure seems late, but at least it's blooming! Might be more as the week goes on...

it tends to be finicky; some years, blooms fine, others (like last summer), nada. Pretty plant. My son gave it to me a few years ago for a Bday present (or was it Father's Day?).

ah, well, erm (version #2); nope. BUT! You WON'T be disappointed when the orchid I DID give you blooms. It's actually more flamboyant than the peacock orchid. This one is more terrestrial and actually, doesn't bloom as easily as the vanda you have. That said, I might be enticed to chop off a part of this one when it finally fills up the pot! These are like gladiola bulbs; my son gave me this as a bday present one year. I do wish they bloomed consistently, though. They go dormant (and they are as of now) in the basement, despite being under lights etc. I've learned to just ignore, spill a little water every now and then but not really soaking the pot, and they come back in the spring.
