here's a pic to make sure we're talking about the same plant ..when the purple falls down you still have a sphere of seed pods, that's what I paint..the leaves are already dyeing back but you can plant annuals to hide that...I will post a pic for you after I paint mine

Image
yeah, that looks like mine alright; guess I never paid much attention once the purple went a way but don't remember any seed pods, though of course, they HAVE multiplied since I got them, so obviously, seeds. I guess I thought they reproduced mainly like tulips, mini bulbs etc. Yes, please do post so I can see what you do with yours. Does painting harm the seeds at all? Or are you not concerned either way?
Here you go! Image
I wanted a brighter color but this blue was the only paint can I found in the garage and pay no attention to the weeds. I haven't started working on this flowerbed yet
ah, okay; I got it now; didn't get the exact picture of how/what you were talking about until the pic!

oh yeah, I like! Thing is with mine, they're under a star magnolia and behind say lilies, so may not show as well as yours, but may try nonetheless. How long does the painted part last this way?

I hope you do try and post me pics...they might show more than you think if they are brighter...will take a few spray coats but depending on the quality of the paint, it should last until the seeds fall out...try it, you'll love it!

@brokensword those look very nice! I was telling my neighbor about doing that as she has them in her garden. I doubt she will do that tho as all she wants to do is get rid of all her weeds right now

been there done that, though MY weeds are in the minority relative to the plants, still, I (ME) see them! Now, I have the beds so all I have to do every Monday is make one sweep through it all and get those that stick up above the plants!

As I mentioned to Gemma; they're in the shade under the magnolia, so not as noticeable but I like the look, nonetheless!

@brokensword I'm glad you tried it, they look great white! I'm sure they are more noticeable than before you painted them Image
