My pond is EPDM, but when I built my bog some10 years later, I used HDRPE and I like it.
Yes, it was stiffer to work with, but just fold the corners like you are wrapping a gift.
Be sure you get the HDRPE which is reinforced (R), not the plain HDPE.
It was cheaper, lighter and I didn't need an underlayment.
I got mine online from American Talapia. The price was way less than EPDM and the shipping was free!

@poconojoe I've only ever had the EPDM and bought mine at two different places here locally. One was from a roofing company where you could choose what thickness you liked off the different rolls. I chose 60ml there and it was quite rugged!
When I built my second pond I bought the liner from an irrigation company and just chose the 45ml and it has been in there for appx 15 yrs. We have sandy soil here tho so no need for the super strength type.

Good to know for people who need that tough stuff as I bet it really helps w/rocky ground and then if it's cheaper then I'd go for it if I was starting all over no matter what.
I found a link to that place you mentioned: https://americantilapia.com/ in case anyone is interested.

Hey @brokensword how do we make a link clickable or can we?

@j.w ; I disabled the html ability because we were getting spammed via that option. And it was advised from what I read on how to STOP spam from occurring so easily on forums. You can just type in everything and let the poster c/p into a browser tab/window. Not as quick but just as functional.

I went with the HDRPE as well, mainly because of price. I saw a demo of EPDM and HDRPE and thought the latter is definitely tougher because it won't stretch and possibly rip (leak). I wasn't that concerned re folds the first time, more so the second but got over it and still like it for the weight and price savings.
