I leaned into koi just to have the red and black striped versions of fish, so it would be Hi Utsuri in my case. But, as you can probably tell; I lIKE 'EM ALL! Mostly!!

You are probably already aware of koiphen.com but in case you are not, there is a wealth of knowledge on their forum if you are thinking of getting into koi...

I'm partial to the shusui pattern, especially the yellow and blue ones.

yeah, when they STAY yellow and blue! My first lost the zipper and now, just a lot of huge scales on top (though, color is blue, I guess) and the latest, younger, seems to be heading the same way as the zipper is less obvious and looks to be merging with itself. At least the color is still the same.

they DO show up in the pond, don't they? But I like when the darker ones mix with such as then, the metallics pop even more. The orange goldfish are great for this, too.

My Ochiba is totally black with a white underside and a bit of orange where the fin are attached to the body.It's weird cause she was ginrin and the black is like velvet, no ginrin is visible....and we named her "Glitter" so what now?
Here's what she looked like when we bought her

HEY! The photo standards peeps are gonna be callin' on ya; ah, where's the AFTER pic, hey?????

Yeah, I have a gin rin ochiba too and it's not much like a NON-gin rin version. Sorta like your before pic (but is a butterfly) and the 'pattern' is mottled amongst all the 'glitter'. I'm actually HOPING it loses that gin rin and goes toward the gray/brown it's supposed to be...

:shocked:

[edit] including some pics of MY gin rin Ochiba;
