just something I came across and thought it merited reminding/advising for both newbies and even those that are established but haven't; ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS include overflow protection (dual mechanical timers on hose end) for fillups/topoffs and drainage protection (sump pump float switch) for the pond. And of course, minimally but just as important, keep your pump OFF the pond bottom by 12". It only takes one time for disaster and regret!
