Re: PoconoJoe's bog build
@poconojoe Not much work now w/the setup I have. Just using a pot edge filter I made using Matala pads and easy to clean and put back. Also have a prefilter hooked to a submersed pump. Have a rope tied to it for easy in and out and then just spray it off w/a strong hose nozzle. So far so good! If I...

https://i.imgur.com/VlAysym.jpg The Parrot's Feather is starting to look good in the return water spillway. I plant that every year. I bought a Parrot's Feather this year that is supposed to be winter hardy, so it should come back next year. Wow!Beautiful fish, beautiful clear water, beautiful bog....

Re: Pond Reconstruction Project (+ Bog)
On second thought, I’m going to remove the top left ball valve. Not needed. Valve mainly needs to adjust flow to the falls and push rest through bog. Leaving a union at top left to disconnect still. if I'm reading your pic right, you have the tee off and line to the weir UNDER the gravel, right? I'...

Re: Bog Build
I'm still having issues with posting a picture. They are too large. I never have problems in other forums, they seem to adjust the size automatically. The one in my last post worked fine because I emailed it to myself! The email resized it. I'm doing this on my android phone. I tried on my Mac by d...

Re: Pond is like pea soup
Keep in mind that in the Spring, things can seem a bit off. You can get murky green water because the beneficial bacteria and plants have not woken up from winter just yet. I believe the water temperature needs to be about 55 degrees F for the bacteria to "wake up". Springtime is the time ...

Gosh we never got to do anything like that in grade school. Wish they would have tho, maybe I would have taken an interest in it then. I'm interested now but kinda late and not going back to school at my age! Would be fun tho to have a microscope handy to just see what's in stuff. you know @j.w , a...

Re: Bog Build
I'm so happy with the bog.
I've never had water this clear in over 10 years of ponding.
It's definitely the best thing I've done for my pond and for me.
No filter pads to clean.
No filters to take apart.
Just enjoy the pond.

Re: Bog Build
https://i.imgur.com/5ZqOv2Z.jpg I'm in northeastern Pennsylvania, zone 6b. So our winters are pretty cold. I took a chance the first winter and left the bog running. I kept an eye on it hoping the return water wouldn't just flow over the ice and out of the pond. I positioned my deicer nearby to kee...
